Amid blockade,Artsakh doctors remotely consult with Armenia partners to save critically-ill patients, including children
10 children are in intensive care at the Arevik hospital in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh). One of the children is in critical condition, the Ministry of Healthcare of Nagorno Karabakh said in a statement.
Another 11 patients are in intensive care at the Republican Medical Center, four of whom are in critical condition.
Nagorno Karabakh is under blockade by Azerbaijan for already eight days and authorities are unable to transport critically ill patients to Armenia for treatment.
“Doctors in Artsakh are providing necessary treatment by consulting with doctors in Armenia online. Doctors are doing everything they can to stabilize the patients’ condition,” the healthcare ministry said.
Azerbaijan blocked the Lachin Corridor – the only road connecting Nagorno Karabakh with Armenia and the rest of the world – on December 12. A day later, Azerbaijan cut off gas supply to Nagorno Karabakh but restored it on December 16. The road remains blocked.
