Ambassador Harutyunyan Delivers Keynote Address at ARS’s International Women’s Day Celebration in Toronto

On Sunday March 8, the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Roubina Chapter of Toronto celebrated their 11th annual International Women’s Day event. This year’s theme was “each for equal”, highlighting the importance of gender parity, and its impact in building a healthier and wealthier economy and society. The afternoon was welcomed and celebrated with over 425 attendees, including ARS members and members of the community.
This year’s keynote speaker was Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, Anahit Harutyunyan. She shared her career journey, uncovering her obstacles and successes and influential women that supported her throughout the years. She also shared how the role of the women in Armenia has evolved tremendously over the years, notably during and after the revolution in 2018, however, she emphasized there are still more work to be done. Her excellency also commended the extraordinary dedication and contributions of the ARS on a local and global scale.
The event included musical and dance performances by the talented local members of the community. In addition, the proceeds of this event were donated to the ARS “Mother and Child” Health and Birthing Center and the National Autism Fund of Armenia.
