GULFNEWS – A Bahraini citizen suspected of terrorism has been arrested at Zvartnots International Airport in the Armenian capital Yerevan.
The man, 26, was taken to the General Department of Criminal Investigation after being caught at 11:00 pm Yerevan time on Friday night, a local report by Tert said, citing the official website of the Armenian police.
The suspect was on the international wanted list over accusations of attempted murder, illegal circulation of explosives, damage to public and private property, mass disorder and terrorism, the police said.
He was taken to the Yerevan City Police Department. The Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Interpol Centre have been informed about the arrest, Tert reported late on Saturday.
In Manama, the General Director of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security said that the Armenian authorities have arrested a fugitive who was sentenced to seven years in jail in Bahrain on charges of arson and bomb attacks to spread terror.
The General Director said the Criminal Police Directorate had requested Interpol to issue a red notice to arrest the fugitive. He said steps were being taken to hand the detainee over to the concerned security authority.
