Quebec National Assembly President delivers resolution on the Armenian Genocide in Yerevan –
ARMENPRESS – The President of Republic of Armenia National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan, received members of the delegation who arrived in Armenia within the framework of the 31st Francophonie Ministerial Conference on October 9.
As “Armenpress” was informed from Republic of Armenia NA Public Relations and Media Department, welcoming the delegation’s visit to the parliament, Galust Sahakyan mentioned, “We attach great importance to cooperation with Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (PAF), which is based on common Francofone values such as cultural and linguistic diversity, French language, as well as peace, democracy and fostering human rights”.
The President of the Parliament emphasized that Armenia and its Parliament have reconfirmed their commitments to the values of Francophonie, as well to their dissemination and reinforcement by becoming full member of Francophonie international organization in 2012 and Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie in 2014.
Galust Sahakyan emphasized that the most important pages of the official website of the Parliament have been translated into French. Jacques Chagnon, President of Quebec National Assembly and the first deputy president of PAF mentioned that the 31st Francophonie Ministerial Conference is held in Armenia not by accident: Armenia is a country with rich history. According to Chagnon, Armenia’s participation will enrich the conference, as their aim is to raise the awareness of the cultures of peoples all over the world.
Jacques Chagnon mentioned that they have joined with other nations condemning the Armenian Genocide. He also mentioned that the National Assembly of Quebec has adopted a resolution by which they pay tribute to the Armenian nation and the Assembly of Quebec qualifies the Armenian Genocide as one of the most horrifying events of the 20th century.
