Turkey reportedly cancels April 24 Istanbul-Yerevan charter flight –

Turkey canceled the charter flight of April 24 from Istanbul to Yerevan, spokesperson of the RA General Department of Civil Aviation Ruben Grdzelyan said, according to Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“The representatives of several Turkish NGOs planned to visit Yerevan on April 24 to pay tribute to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims. I believe the flight was canceled after hysteria was raised in recent days in Turkey around the Armenian Genocide issue,” the paper quoted him as saying. Turkish individuals will, however, be present at Tsiternakaberd, the Armenian Genocide memorial.

Armenian MP Aragats Akhoyan told the newspaper that he has invited five Turkish officials, three of whom have accepted the invitation. “We do not want to make those Turkish officials’ names public over security reasons,” the MP said.
