On January 6 1919 the Newcastle Morning Herald (Australia) published an article titled “Massacre by Turks – Atrocities in Armenia – Women Burned to Death”.
LONDON, Sunday. It has been ascertained that the Turks withdrawing from Armenia, perpetrated a final massacre, and stole food wholesale.
It is reported from Paris that the”Petit Parlsien” states that the inquiry into the Armenian massacres shows that the victims numbered 1,500,000. German officers caused the massacre of 1500 at Keman, and 70,000 children died of hunger.
In another district 2000 women; who were suspected of swallowing their Jewellery, were saturated with petrol and burned to ashes, which were passcd through sieves to recover the gold.
The “Petit Parilsicn” states that Enver Pasha, Talaat Pasha, Djemal Pasha, and Von Sanders are responsible for the massacres, and should be hanged.
