Terrorists who attacked the Syrian town of Kesab do not have anything in common with Islam, Chechnya’s President Ramzan Kadyrov wrote Monday on one of his official pages in the social networks. He expressed condolences to the families of those who had died in Kesab, a mostly Armenian-populated place in the northwest of Syria, and in other parts of the country, the Russian news agency TASS reports.

“About a hundred people died in Kesab as a results of an attack by the militants who, as it is stressed by the Syrian authorities, had come from Turkey,” Karydov said. “They were ethnic Armenians, the indigenous residents of Syria.”

\n

“The official data says the attack on Kesab was carried out by al-Qaida militants affiliated with the so-called al-Nusra Front and Islamic Front,” he said. “I am stating herein bindingly that these terrorists have nothing in common with Islam and cannot be called Moslems.”

Kadyrov complained over the silence about the tragedy kept by officials in European countries and the U.S.

\n

“These terrorists have been reared, fostered and armed by the West and trained by secret services of NATO countries,” he said. “They are fulfilling a task to ruin Syria and weaken the Islamic countries. And where’re the European and American democracies and why are the keeping their mouths shut?”

\n

“Why are they pumping hundreds of millions of dollars, weaponry and specialized to the thugs, who oppose the legitimate government in Syria and kill women, the elderly, and children?” Kadyrov said. “How many more Syrians should die so that NATO countries stopped supporting the terrorists?”

\n

“Placed against this background, the almost daily statements and threats against Russia, which supported the results of the referendum in Crimea and managed to avert bloodshed there, have an especially cynical sounding,” he said.

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov urged the UN Security Council to discuss the shelling of ethnic Armenian residents in Kesab without a delay.

\n

“It’s essential that the UN Security Council should examine the situation immediately,” he tweeted.

Activists of the Armenian community in Moscow held a peaceful action of protest in front of the Turkish embassy on Monday.

\n

“The data we have suggests that militants from Turkey took part in the purges of the peaceful population and we’d like to call public opinion to the crime,” Edgar Grig, a leader of the community said.

\n

For this purpose the Moscow Armenians filed a request with the Mayor’s Office to hold a meeting Wednesday, April 2.
