As many as 13,550 forcibly displaced people have crossed into Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) since last week’s Azerbaijani military offensive, the Armenian government said on Tuesday.
Registration data of 11,000 people have been summarized and needs assessment for 2,550 persons is underway.
Artsakh’s officials have said they plan to evacuate thousands of displaced people from there into Armenia.
The evacuees are accompanied across the border into Armenia by Russian peacekeepers.
More than 200 people were killed and 400 wounded in the two-day Azerbaijani offensive, which forced Artsakh to agree to disband its armed forces and discuss its “reintegration” into Azerbaijan as part of a Russian-brokered ceasefire announced on Wednesday.
