(Horizon Weekly) – Eleven individuals who remained in Artsakh following its depopulation have been relocated to Armenia, according to Armenia’s Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan.
In a Facebook post, Torosyan stated that 10 ethnic Armenians and 1 Russian national holding Armenian citizenship who had been residing in Artsakh applied to be transferred to Armenia through the relevant authorities of both Armenia and Azerbaijan. Based on these applications, the individuals were relocated to the Republic of Armenia.
However, Artsakh Human Rights Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan said he has no information regarding the identities or whereabouts of the individuals who were relocated. Speaking to NEWS.am, Stepanyan stated that his office was not informed about the process.
Armenia’s Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has also not provided further details. Ministry spokesperson Nver Kostanyan declined to comment on whether the relocated individuals are currently receiving medical care or housed in medical facilities.
It remains unclear whether additional Armenians continue to reside in Artsakh or whether the eleven individuals relocated to Armenia were the last remaining residents.
