Canadian Ambassador Andrew Turner pays farewell visit to Catholicos Karekin II

(Horizon Media / ETCHMIADZIN) — His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received the outgoing Canadian Ambassador to Armenia, Andrew Turner, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on August 18, as the diplomat prepares to conclude his mission in the country.

During the meeting, Catholicos Karekin II thanked Turner for his service in Armenia and praised his efforts to deepen Armenian-Canadian relations and strengthen ties between the two countries.

His Holiness also expressed appreciation for the support Armenia has received from the Canadian government and people. He highlighted the Armenian-Canadian community’s active participation in Canada’s public and political life, as well as its contribution to fostering closer relations between Armenia and Canada.

Turner, in turn, thanked the Catholicos for the warm reception and support extended to him throughout his tenure. Reflecting on his years in Armenia, the Ambassador said he would leave the country with fond memories of the Armenian people and of Armenia’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Catholicos Karekin II wished Turner continued success in his future diplomatic service.

Turner, Canada’s first resident ambassador to Armenia, is concluding his posting following the establishment of Canada’s resident embassy in Yerevan in 2023.
