Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan’s detention replaced with house arrest

(Horizon Media / YEREVAN) – Armenia’s Court of Appeal has replaced the pre-trial detention of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan with house arrest.

The decision, issued on June 4 under the chairmanship of Judge Vazgen Rshtuni, also allows the dual Armenian-Canadian citizen to travel independently to Ijevan to participate in the June 7 vote. He has been granted a seven-hour leave for that purpose.

Archbishop Galstanyan has been in custody since June 2025 on trumped-up charges.
