Turkish scholar: Armenian Genocide shame of Turkey –

ARMENPRESS. Turkish scientist and human rights defender Sait Çetinoğlu strongly criticized Turkish government’s denial stance on the issue of the Armenian Genocide during “Against the Crime of Genocide” second Global forum. Çetinoğlu stated that the massacre of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in the early 20th century is the shame of Turkey which should be eliminated. “In 1915 tens of thousands of children and Armenian women were killed and were sold. It can be said that their souls were stolen. It is a situation which shames us, and we should save from that shame”, “Armenpress” reports, Turkish scholar says.

He referred to the step by Armenian Member of Parliament of the Turkish Parliament Garo Paylan who showed the photos of the Armenian MPs who became the victims of the Armenian Genocide, calling it very important, but incomplete step. “A writer named Sevan Nishanyan lives in Turkey who is in jail almost few years. I am worried about my friend’s life”, he said.

He added that Turkish Parliament’s current building is built on the land which previously belonged to Armenians, the land of the buildings of Prime Minister and Erdogan also belonged to Armenians. “Today there are people who collected their property and wealth from the Armenians seized property”, said Turkish intellectual who admits that injustice took place and in 1915 20-25% of the Armenian people were massacred.

According to Sait Çetinoğlu he is even not allowed to participate in conf. According to Sait Çetinoğlu he is even not allowed to participate in conferences as a speaker in his country. They even do not provide him funds to organize conferences.
