TUMO raises more than $17 million at 15th anniversary gala

(Horizon Media / LOS ANGELES) — TUMO raised more than $17 million at a gala marking the Armenian-founded education organization’s 15th anniversary, with the funds set to support its continued expansion in Armenia.

Held at Vibiana in Los Angeles on September 20, the event brought together supporters, community figures and leaders from the technology and entertainment sectors. The evening was hosted by Kristina Ayanian and featured a special performance by System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian.

The gala honoured ServiceTitan co-founders Vahe Kuzoyan and Ara Mahdessian, as well as NVIDIA Vice President Rev Lebaredian, who has played a leading role in the development of Firebird, Armenia’s high-performance artificial intelligence computing initiative.

Guests also took part in a live auction featuring experiences with UFC fighter Arman Tsarukyan, tennis legend Andre Agassi and chess grandmaster Levon Aronian.

A visual installation by People of Ar showcased work inspired by TUMO students, including material from a 3D scanning program used to digitally preserve Armenian monasteries and cultural landmarks located in territories that have fallen outside Armenian control following recent wars.

Founded in Armenia in 2011, TUMO provides free technology and design education to teenagers and now serves more than 35,000 students across 15 countries. The organization said the funds raised in Los Angeles will help support its next phase of growth across Armenia.
