Canada’s Ambassador Andrew Turner concludes mission with farewell meeting with Armenia’s Human Rights Defender

(Horizon Media / YEREVAN) — Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan received Canadian Ambassador Andrew Turner on August 24 as the diplomat prepares to conclude his mission in Armenia.

During the meeting, Turner thanked Manasyan for the productive cooperation established with the Office of the Human Rights Defender and for the joint work carried out during his tenure.

Manasyan, in turn, expressed appreciation for the cooperation developed with the Embassy of Canada in Armenia and highlighted Turner’s support for initiatives aimed at advancing the protection of human rights.

The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining cooperation in the fields of human rights protection and the strengthening of democratic values.

Turner also underscored the important role of Armenia’s Human Rights Defender institution, thanking Manasyan for the open and constructive dialogue maintained throughout his diplomatic posting.

Turner is concluding his tenure as Canada’s ambassador to Armenia after serving as the country’s first resident ambassador following the opening of Canada’s embassy in Yerevan in 2023.
