Armenian students wine five medals at International Mathematical Olympiad

SHANGHAI — Armenia’s national team earned one silver medal, four bronze medals and one honourable mention at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad, held in Shanghai, China.
The prestigious competition brought together 666 students from 120 countries, with national delegations consisting of up to six contestants. Participants completed two rounds of challenging theoretical problems.
Hayk Manukyan, a Grade 10 student at Quantum College, delivered Armenia’s strongest performance, winning a silver medal.
His Quantum College classmates Tigran Hakheyan and Aren Grigoryan, both in Grade 10, received bronze medals. Sarkis Arakelyan, a Grade 11 student, and Arsen Makaryan, a Grade 12 student at the A. Shahinyan Physics and Mathematics Specialized School, also earned bronze medals.
Arman Asatryan, a Grade 12 student at the same specialized school, received an honourable mention.
Armenia finished 43rd in the overall team standings. The delegation was led by Grigor Kerobyan of WorldQuant and Narek Khandanyan of Krisp.
The result marked an improvement over Armenia’s performance at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad in Australia, where the team earned three bronze medals and three honourable mentions.
