Armenia elected to UNESCO Heritage Committee

Armenia has been elected as a member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the first time, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding cultural and natural heritage.
On November 24, during the 25th session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, Armenia was elected as a member of the World Heritage Committee for the first time, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the election phase for open seats, Armenia received the highest number of votes—105 out of a possible 161—demonstrating the international community’s strong trust in Armenia’s role in preserving cultural heritage.
By joining the World Heritage Committee, Armenia has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting, preserving, and restoring cultural and natural heritage, and to promoting the core principles of the World Heritage Convention while contributing to international efforts in this field.
