Azerbaijan quietly preparing for potential conflict

Azerbaijan is actively preparing for potential conflict while exercising caution in its rhetoric, political analyst Ara Poghosyan warns, citing a media report.
“Azerbaijan is encircled by three countries involved in recent military and diplomatic conflicts: Armenia, Iran, and Russia, and is actively preparing for potential conflict,” he quoted Defense Arabia as saying.
“The arsenal is enormous for a country with fewer than 10 million inhabitants, supported by Turkey and Israel, two countries with large military industries, indicating a high potential for replenishing stocks,” the report added.
In a separate post on Friday, Poghosyan highlighted that prior to 2020, Azerbaijan consistently reiterated its commitment to the OSCE Minsk Group process and the principles of international law, insisting that it sought a peaceful and negotiated settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“Yet, the country was steadily arming itself, a buildup visible to the naked eye. It forged new alliances, established economic ties with Armenia’s allies and made political promises, at the same time weakening the Armenian people’s vigilance through diplomatic statements,” he wrote.
