Minister Mary Ng praises Canadian Armenian community’s response to pandemic and ANCC leadership

On May 11, Sarin Poladian, Senior Correspondent of Horizon Weekly had a virtual interview with Honourable Mary Ng , Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion and MP for Markham-Thornhill region, to discuss the latest support and tools available from the government for small businesses in response to COVID 19.  She highlighted that the government is providing the right support during this time and making sure that businesses can retain their employees; and pay their expenditures by offering interest-free loans, HST/GST deferrals, wage subsidies and emergency commercial rent support.

Minister Ng also emphasized that during this time the government is making sure Canadian businesses are supported and the goal is to save as many businesses and jobs as possible, because of the importance of small businesses for the Canadian economy.

During the interview, Minister Ng acknowledged the incredible work and leadership of the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC) and that is the commemoration of Armenian Genocide that was broadcasted online for the first time. Moreover, she recognized the leadership and extraordinary efforts of the Armenian Community for setting up ACC COVID-19 committee for Armenian Canadians who need support and assistance in response to the pandemic.

In a special remark, the Hon. Mary Ng also acknowledged the exceptional efforts of the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) for extraordinary leadership for volunteering to make thousands of masks that are going to help long term care facilities, seniors, and all those in need.  “During the time of COVID 19 it’s great to see the leadership, the community-oriented and just extraordinary Canadian resilience that the Armenian Canadian community had to display.”
