Armenia’s grandmaster Elina Danielian scored 7 points in 11 rounds, finishing third at the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix that ended in Lopota, Georgia, on July 1. 

Hou Yifan from China won the competition with 9 points. A total of 12 participants took part in the tournament. 

Danielian is 34th on the Top 100 Women Player list unveiled by FIDE on Tuesday. She has a rating of 2458. The other Armenian female chess player included in the list is Lilit Mkrtchian – she is 44th with a rating of 2446. Hungary’s Judit Polgar remains on top of the list with a rating of 2676.

Meanwhile, Armenia’s top player Levon Aronian has maintained his status as the world’s second best chessman in the latest FIDE rankings. 

As of July 1 Aronian has a rating of 2805, trailing the top-ranked grandmaster Magnus Carlsen from Norway by 72 points.

The latest Top 100 player rankings of FIDE (www.fide.com) also include Armenian grandmasters Gabriel Sargissian (position 58; rating 2686), Sergei Movsesian (position 71; rating 2672) and Vladimir Akopian (position 95; rating 2655).
