AUA to Offer Masters Degrees in International Relations and Diplomacy and in Public Affairs

YEREVAN – The American University of Armenia is set to offer two new graduate degrees beginning in Fall 2023 – Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy (MAIRD) and Master of Public Affairs (MPA).

“These two degrees provide the opportunity for young professionals working in the public

service sector – in governmental and non-governmental organizations – to advance their career paths with better knowledge,” said Prof. Asbed Kotchikian, program chair of Political Science and International Affairs.

The Political Science and International Affairs program has enjoyed great success. However, there continues to be the need for professionals and public servants who master the tools required for careers in public service, local and international organizations, and global public affairs agencies.

These one-and-a-half-year programs are designed for recent graduates from relevant majors as well as early and mid-career professionals. The courses are taught by experienced faculty with teaching experiences in the US and Europe.

According to Prof. Kotchikian, the MPA degree aims at supplementing and enhancing the knowledge and skill bases of individuals who are interested in designing policy solutions to public problems, and how to administer those solutions with leadership and management skills for public, private, and nonprofit organizations. The MAIRD degree equips students with the

necessary knowledge and tools required for careers in global service within governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations.

Students can combine work and study since most classes are offered in the evening and the two degrees also provide the opportunity to spend a semester abroad in Salzburg, Berlin, and Iceland.
