Palu’s Armenian St. Illuminator Church to be restored –

ARMENPRESS – The ancient Armenian Church St Illuminator in Turkey’s Palu province will be restored. As reports “Armenpress” citing Agos periodical, Palu’s municipality and the chief department for foundations have already begun the restoration activities. There were 5250 Armenians living in Palu before 1915. The total population of Palu was 9850 in 1914. The five churches and four schools of the province were gradually turned into ruins. In 1970s the ancient Armenian Church St Illuminator became a target of treasure hunters.
