YEREVAN (News.am)—The Kung Fu Federation of Armenia took part in the Eurasian Cup Championship of Kung-Fu-Sanda, held on March 8 and 9 in the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
The Armenian team won ten gold, five silver and three bronze medals.
Only the Georgian team won as many gold medals, resulting in both teams winning the tournament cup.
Fighters from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic competed at the event as part of the Armenian team.
Federation President Hayk Harutyunyan said that despite the very difficult and tense competition, the Armenian athletes succeeded in achieving good results.
Harutyunyan added that the presence of three Azeri teams made for a tense environment but did not deter the Armenian team.
The tournament was a successful test ahead of the world championships, which will be held from July 25 to 30 in Beijing, China, where Armenia will participate for the first time.
