UN High Commissioner for Human Rights demands release of arbitrarily detained Armenians in Baku

At the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk, in his comprehensive report, addressed the issue of all persons arbitrarily detained in Azerbaijan, including ethnic Armenians.

He stated that “they must be released immediately, and their rights to a fair trial must be fully respected.”

According to the Armenian Embassy in Switzerland, the High Commissioner also noted that he is closely monitoring the ongoing peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing hope that they “will lead to a process of unveiling the truth, healing, and reconciliation,” and that he is ready to provide his support.
