Turkey to increase pressure on Armenia in near future – expert

Turkey’s pressure on Armenia to obtain a corridor through the Syunik region will increase  even more in the coming months. Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan is of this opinion.

According to the expert, the South Caucasus and the Black Sea region  are today the number one priority of Turkey’s foreign policy, and  they are ahead of the Syrian-Iraqi direction in their importance.

Geghamyan noted that he was convinced of this during his field work  in Syria and Lebanon, which lasted several weeks.

“This means that Turkey will direct its best resources (from  diplomatic to military, from personnel to economic) in our direction  to solve the problems facing it.

And what are these tasks? To further expand Turkey’s sphere of  influence in the South Caucasus and to strengthen the Turkish zone  stretching from Central Asia to the Balkans as much as possible,  becoming a regional superpower. The Zangezur Corridor project is one  of the key steps towards this goal,” the Turkologist noted.

At the same time, he is sure that in order to hide Turkey’s growing  pressure on Armenia, every frivolous and secondary thing will be  discussed in the open. According to him, this has already been  successfully done in recent weeks.

“The least that can be done now to help improve the situation is to  not participate in these stupid discussions and continue to talk  about the real agenda,” the expert concluded.
