The United States Department of Defense has declined to comment on movement of military equipment from Germany to Armenia.
“The United States strongly values our relationship with Armenia. The Department of Defense does not comment on equipment movements for operational security reasons,” a US defense official told Armenpress.
The comments come in the wake of a report by Russian state-run Russia Today TV network claiming that that the United States is planning to move military equipment from Germany to Armenia, possibly for joint drills.
Citing documents reviewed by the agency, the RT reported that the US will move hundreds of units of military equipment from its bases in Germany to Armenia in July. The transfer would reportedly take place through Georgian territory. RT said the move could be linked to possible joint drills.
The Armenian Defense Ministry is yet commented on the report.
