‘Mockery of history’: Expert slams official reception for Azeri ‘activist’ involved in Artsakh blockade

Iran specialist Vardan Voskanyan has strongly criticized the official reception of an Azerbaijani “eco activist” who participated in the nine-month blockade of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in 2022.

She was part of an Azerbaijani non-governmental delegation that visited Yerevan to advance the “peace agenda” of the Armenian and Azerbaijani governments. Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan met with the Azeri delegation members on Wednesday.

In a social media post on Friday, Voskanyan said that Armenia had “added another shameful chapter” to its history by welcoming “an agent of Baku’s barbaric regime” at an official level instead of detaining him.

“This is a mockery of history and a stain of disgrace upon dignified Armenians inflicted by those who pursue friendly relations with the enemy,” Voskanyan wrote.
