Mirzoyan in Washington for talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio

(Horizon Weekly) – Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan arrived in Washington on January 13 for a working visit to the United States, where he is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan, the meeting will take place at the U.S. State Department and will conclude with a joint statement outlining the implementation framework of the Trump Route initiative, known as TRIPP. The statement is expected to address the next steps and practical modalities of the initiative.

The bilateral talks are set for 12:00 p.m. Washington time, corresponding to 9:00 p.m. in Yerevan. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Allison Hooker and senior Bureau official Brendan Hanrahan are also expected to participate in the meeting.

According to official documents, the Trump Route Initiative for Prosperity and Peace (TRIPP) is a U.S.-backed framework designed to advance regional connectivity, economic integration, and political stabilization through infrastructure development and transit corridors. The initiative is presented as a mechanism to promote trade, investment, and long-term security cooperation in the South Caucasus.
