(Horizon Weekly) – Armenia’s national boxing team has delivered a landmark performance at the World Boxing Championships in Dubai, with five athletes securing places in the semifinals, the Armenian Boxing Federation announced.
In its statement, the federation noted that Armenia has never before placed five boxers in the semifinal round of a world championship, calling the achievement unprecedented given the participation of competitors from 108 countries. With their advancement, all five athletes are now guaranteed to return home with medals.
The semifinal bouts will take place on December 11. Artur Bazeyan, Hovhannes Bachkov, Rafael Hovhannisyan, and Davit Chaloyan are scheduled to compete in the first session at 16:00 local time, while Rudolf Garboyan will take the ring later in the evening at 21:00.
Armenia’s strong showing in Dubai has already set a national record, with nine members of the team having reached the quarterfinal stage — the country’s best collective result at a world championship to date.
The federation emphasized that this success reflects not only the skill of the individual athletes but also the growing strength of Armenia’s boxing program on the global stage.
