EU monitoring mission to continue activities in Armenia, says Brussels

The EU monitoring mission in Armenia will continue its activities, while possible changes in its mandate will be discussed between Yerevan and Brussels, the lead spokesperson of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Anitta Hipper told the Azeri Report media outlet.

“The mission’s mandate is to monitor and report the situation on the Armenian side of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border,” she said, according to the media outlet.

The spokesperson added that the EU welcomes the initialing of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace agreement and calls on both sides to sign and ratify it as soon as possible.

One of the terms of the initialed peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan stipulates that the countries shall not deploy along their mutual border forces of any third party.
