Escalation of any form in the South Caucasus unacceptable – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio

Escalation of any form in the South Caucasus is unacceptable, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a phone call with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed shared interests as strategic partners. 

According to the Department of State, the Secretary welcomed the agreement on a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and underlined the importance of a lasting peace to break the cycle of regional conflict and bring security and prosperity to the South Caucasus. 

The Secretary and Prime Minister agreed that escalation of any form in the South Caucasus is unacceptable, the State Department said.
