Catholicos blesses Homenetmen Games participants

On July 29, around 700 scouts from the 12th Pan-Homenetmen Games visited the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, accompanied by members of the Central Executive Board of the Armenian General Athletic Union (Homenetmen).

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II presided over a special blessing ceremony for the participants at the Mother Cathedral of Etchmiadzin.

In his concluding message, His Holiness expressed satisfaction that the long-standing tradition of these games continues to unite Armenian youth from around the world in their homeland to compete, connect, and build friendships.

Addressing the hardships facing the Armenian nation, Karekin II highlighted that the homeland still faces serious security challenges following the war in Artsakh, while displaced Armenians from Artsakh remain in need. He also pointed to growing internal discord, intolerance, and widespread uncertainty about the future.

“We believe justice must prevail, and together we must not allow hatred, deceit, and wrongdoing to dominate our lives or undermine national unity. Even in this complex situation for the homeland, we must not lose hope. You, who were born and raised across the world, including Armenia and Artsakh, carry the responsibility of contributing to our nation’s bright future,” he said.

The Catholicos urged the pilgrims to preserve their national identity, take pride in Armenian history and heritage, and uphold the spirit of the nation’s enduring struggle for justice and freedom.
