Birth rate in Armenia decreased by 4.8% in January

In January 2025, the birth rate in Armenia decreased by 4.8% compared to the same period in 2024, according to data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia. This decline in the birth rate has been observed in Armenia since January of the previous year.
It is reported that 2,733 babies were born during the reporting period, compared to 2,871 newborns in January 2024.
During the same period, 28 stillbirths were registered, which is a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
In total, 2,627 people died in the country in January 2025, which is an 8.1% increase compared to January 2024.
It is also noted that the viability rate—the ratio of births to deaths—was 4% in January 2025, compared to 18.1% in January 2024.
