Azerbaijan violates ceasefire, then blames Armenia, MP warns

Azerbaijan has been systematically violating the ceasefire along multiple sections of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border for 5–6 days while attempting to shift the blame onto Armenia, warns opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the Pativ Unem faction

Abrahamyan criticized the Defense Ministry’s approach of only reporting “dangerous gunfire”, arguing that it downplays the ongoing violations. “The patterns we’ve observed – repeated ceasefire breaches occurring at the same time and with similar frequency – indicate a coordinated strategy,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.

The MP also condemned the government’s decision to withhold information about Azeri shootings, calling it a dangerous policy. “Transparency is crucial for accurate assessments, public awareness and negotiations,” he stressed.

According to Abrahamyan, Azerbaijan is using ceasefire violations as a tool of coercion, threatening escalation to pressure Armenia into compliance with its demands. He also noted that the shootings aim to intimidate Armenian border residents. “Ignoring these violations could also harm troop morale,” he warned.
