Artsakh rights council announces launch of broad mobilization campaign

The Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Armenians has announced the launch of a broad national mobilization campaign, calling on all concerned individuals and political forces in Artsakh, Armenia and the Diaspora to unite around a common agenda.

In a public statement on Friday, the council emphasized that the Armenian government has not adequately addressed the demands voiced during the big rally in Yerevan’s Freedom Square on March 29, engaging only in limited discussions with representatives of the movement. While the government has provided a written response addressing the five key demands, the council stated that its interpretations do not align with their vision. The government’s only practical proposal has been the formation of expert groups to explore potential solutions, a move the council considers inadequate given the urgency of the situation.

As part of the mobilization effort, a headquarters tent has been established in Yerevan’s Freedom Square, inviting supporters to gather, engage in dialogue and help shape the movement’s next steps. Public consultations and efforts to build unity will continue through April 15, after which the date and location of the next major rally will be announced. The upcoming demonstration is expected to be followed by large-scale mass actions aimed at intensifying pressure and advancing the movement’s demands.

In the meantime, localized protests and awareness campaigns will take place at various sites and institutions to present the Artsakh people’s demands and related concerns.

“We urge all our compatriots not to lose heart and to prepare for a resolute and persistent struggle in defense of our collective rights and just demands. The issues we are raising concern the entire Armenian nation and we call on all Armenians, regardless of their place of residence or origin, to stand with us,” reads the statement.
