(Horizon Weekly) – An Armenian Apostolic Church History Course was officially launched online on January 12, 2025, through Tyndale University, marking a significant new educational initiative for the Armenian community in Canada, reports the Armenian Prelacy of Canada.
The course aims to equip Armenian youth and the wider community with the academic tools and foundational knowledge needed to study the Armenian Apostolic Church and to better understand its central role in the formation and preservation of Armenian identity throughout history.
The initiative was realized under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, and is the result of sustained collaboration between the Prelacy of Canada and Tyndale University.
In a message marking the launch, Archbishop Tcharian extended his prayers and gratitude to Tyndale University President Dr. Kerr, Provost Dr. Green, Seminary Dean Dr. Krause, Professor of Record Dr. Pedlar, as well as the Prelacy University Committee. The committee includes Dr. Dania Ohanian, Fr. Keghart, and Deacon Daron, whose collective efforts were instrumental in bringing the course to fruition.
According to the Prelacy, the program will feature several guest lecturers from different countries and academic backgrounds, adding both scholarly depth and an international dimension to the curriculum. His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, is among the distinguished guest speakers participating in the course.
The launch of the program represents a milestone in faith-based higher education for the Armenian community in Canada and reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen Armenian ecclesiastical and cultural education through academic institutions.
