YEREVAN— Armenian actor Samvel Tadevosyan will be honoured with a Golden Globes Beacon Award at the inaugural Silk Road Tribute Gala, scheduled for October 23–24 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The Golden Globes announced the six honorees on October 14, selecting artists from Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for recognition of their work in film and television. The Beacon Award, to be presented to Tadevosyan and Kazakh actress Shugyla Yeshen, highlights performers representing a new generation of regional screen talent.
Tadevosyan rose to prominence playing Tigran in Mher Mkrtchyan’s 2016 drama Life and Fight (Kyanq u Kriv), which follows friends whose lives are transformed by the war in Artsakh. His performance earned an Anahit Award from Armenia’s National Film Academy, as well as recognition through an Armenian state prize. His career also spans television and theatre, including a one-man production of The Egoist.
Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne praised the honorees for bringing the region’s distinctive stories and artistic traditions to audiences at home and abroad.
Other recipients include Uzbek cinema veterans Gulchekhra Djamilova and Ali Khamraev, Georgian filmmaker Levan Koguashvili and Azerbaijani filmmaker Tahmina Rafaella. The honours will be presented in three categories: Meridian, Trailblazer and Beacon.
The Tashkent gala is a special regional tribute organized in partnership with the Golden Globes, separate from its annual competitive film and television awards. Produced by Vivid Strategies, the two-day event aims to spotlight the creative heritage and cultural connections of the historic Silk Road region.
