Armenia and France will continue cooperating in the field of defense, French FM say

France will continue cooperation with Armenia, including in the field of defense, French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Stephane Sejourne said at a press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

“Armenia must be able to protect its territory, integrity and population. The defense cooperation of the two countries is not aimed at aggravating the situation in the region,” Sejourne said.

He emphasized that cooperation between friends in the field of defense is natural. He said they do this respecting sovereignty and the desire not to cause escalation.

The Minister also emphasized that the friendship between Armenia and France is based on very strong and historical foundations.

Agreements on military cooperation between Armenia and France were signed in the fall of 2023, after which Armenia received the first batch of defense weapons.
