Young activists of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation on Friday staged a protest outside the government building, voicing opposition to what they describe as Armenia’s acceptance of Turkish preconditions in the ongoing normalization talks.
The protest came after the arrival in Yerevan of Turkey’s special envoy for normalization with Armenia, Serdar Kilic.
The protesters accused the Armenian government of concealing details of Kilic’s visit and claimed that Ankara continues to impose preconditions on Armenia. They claimed that Turkey’s policies have not changed and pointed to its role during the Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia and Artsakh.
“We reject the policy of denial. The memory of the Armenian Genocide victims is not subject to negotiation,” one participant said, adding that any agreements reached under the current government would be “null and void”.
The protesters then began chanting “No to denial”.
