As Canadians prepare to decide who will lead our country, the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC) calls on elected officials, candidates, and our community to recognize the power and responsibility that comes with civic and political engagement.

For generations, Armenian-Canadians have been proud contributors to Canada’s rich social, economic, and cultural landscape. As engaged citizens, we have consistently worked to strengthen the democratic values that define our country. Yet, our commitment to building a better Canada must also extend to advancing the
issues that deeply impact our community – issues of justice, human rights, and the security of Armenians here and abroad.

The upcoming federal election is a crucial moment — one that demands action from both our elected leaders and our community. We urge political parties and candidates to listen to the concerns of Armenian-Canadians and to commit to policies that reflect Canada’s core principles of peace, accountability, and justice. From addressing the ongoing crisis facing the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), strengthening Canada-Armenia relations and to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia and advocating for a principled foreign policy, these issues are not only vital to our community but to Canada’s role as a global leader in defending human rights.

At the same time, we call on Armenian-Canadians to step forward with purpose — to engage with candidates, ask tough questions, and ensure our concerns are heard at every level of government.

Democracy thrives when citizens take an active role in shaping the future, and our voices are essential in ensuring that Canada’s next government reflects the values we hold dear. This election presents an opportunity — not just to choose who leads our country, but to champion the issues that matter most to our community. Together, we can build a stronger Canada — one that stands firm in the face of injustice, supports those in need, and upholds the principles that unite us all.
