Turkey coup: around 200 dead and nearly 3000 arrested –

Euronews – Hundreds of people are now thought to have been killed, many of them civilians, and over one thousand wounded following an attempted military coup in Turkey.

Nearly 3000 military personnel have also been detained, the country’s Prime Minister has confirmed.

• Coup seems to be all but over, many troops have surrendered, although reportedly,  high-ranking military officials remain hostages at the last base controlled by soldiers involved in the coup

• More than 200 people killed – including 104 described as “coup plotters” and 47 civilians

• Loyalist forces, citizens and police say they stopped coup attempt, Erdogan and Yildrim are insisting civilians stay on the streets to oppose coup

• More than 3000 military personnel are said to have been detained
