Weightlifting: Tigran Martirosyan wins European title –

Armenian weightlifter Tigran Martirosyan (77 kg w/c) won the gold medal at European Weightlifting Championships held in Tbilisi, Georgia. 

On Tuesday, Martirosyan made a combined lift of 351 kg, showing the same result as Russian Viktor Gets, but the Armenian athlete took first place due to weighing less. 

Armenia’s second representative in the same weight category Andranik Karapetyan won the bronze medal showing a combined 350 kg result.

Martirosyan already won European titles in 2008 and 2010 and a European Championships silver medal in 2007. The 26-year-old Armenian athlete also won silver and gold medals at World Championships in 2009 and 2010, respectively, while in 2008 he became a bronze medalist at the Olympics.
