Armenia, India hold first defense consultations

On May 14, the first defense consultations between the Ministries of Defense of Armenia and India were held in Armenia under the chairmanship of the Head of the Department of Defense Policy and International Cooperation MoD of Armenia, Levon Ayvazyan, and the Joint Secretary for International Cooperation Ministry of Defense of India, Vishwesh Negi.

The consultations were also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, and the Defense Attaché, Brigadier General Naveen Nijhawan.

During the consultations, the present state of cooperation between Armenia and India in the defense sector and prospects for future development, including military-technical, military education and combat training of personnel, exchange of experience and others, were discussed.

Additionally, the meeting addressed issues related to regional security.

Levon Ayvazyan provided an overview of the ongoing reforms within the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Protocol on the results of the consultations was signed, which approved the Cooperation Plan between the Defense Ministries of Armenia and India for the years 2024-2025, and provided for the establishment of a joint working group on the issues of bilateral defense cooperation.
