U.S. Congresswoman Linda Sanchez condemns Azerbaijan’s Artsakh blockade
U.S. Congresswoman Linda Sanchez has condemned Azerbaijan’s blockade of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and urged the Biden administration to ensure aid reaches the people of Artsakh.
“We must make it clear to Azerbaijan that imposing its will on the Armenian people by force is unacceptable, and I call on the Administration to ensure aid reaches the people of Artsakh,” she stated in a powerful statement on the U.S. House floor on Wednesday.
Rep. Sanchez recently held a meeting with her constituent Gev Iskajyan, a senior aide for the ANC of Artsakh, who shared first-hand accounts of the devastation of Azerbaijan’s blockade from Artsakh’s capital Stepanakert.
Large groups of Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the Lachin corridor, Artsakh’s sole land link with Armenia, since 12 December to protest what they claim is illegal mining operation in Artsakh.
