Strain in Russian-Turkish relations will make Moscow denounce Treaties of Kars and Moscow
Arminfo – The recent strain in the Russian-Turkish relations will make Moscow denounce the Treaty of Kars and the Treaty of Moscow unilaterally, which will enable Russia to return up to 30% of Turkey’s current territories.
According to Russian mass media, relevant information was disseminated by the Russian president’s administration.
Under the Russian-Turkish Treaty of Moscow of 1921, Turkey received the Armenian provinces of Kars and Ardahan. Russia is free to extend the Treaty every 25 years. If now Moscow refuses to do it, Turkey will have to return many territories, including to Armenia.
If Moscow decides to denounce the Treaty of Kars of 1923 between Russia and Turkey, Armenia will have an opportunity to get back its historical and biblical Mount Ararat that was transferred under jurisdiction of Turkey by the given Treaty. It is noteworthy that Armenia still refuses to recognize that Treaty.
