Stop Greenwashing Genocide!: Protest held outside UN office in Yerevan

A COP29 protest “Stop Greenwashing Genocide!” has started outside the UN office in Yerevan.

Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg, who arrived in Armenia after boycotting the UN climate summit in Baku on Wednesday, is scheduled to join the protest.

This protest has been organized in response to the decision by the United Nations to designate Azerbaijan as the host of COP29, despite concerns over its track record of aggression toward the people of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), as well as the authoritarian policies and Armenophobic rhetoric of the Aliyev regime.

The event will address the impact of Azerbaijan’s actions on both human rights and environmental protection in the region.
