MP: Azerbaijan considers occupied Armenian lands as ‘war trophy’
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has deplored Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s silence over the latest remarks of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
In an interview on Wednesday, Aliyev renewed demands for Armenia to hand over eight villages to Azerbaijan.
“Thus, Azerbaijan demands Armenia first cede four villages of Tavush, which have no enclave status and border with Azerbaijan, and then hold negotiations on the handover of four enclaves to Azerbaijan,” Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, wrote on Facebook on Friday, adding Baku also demanded road connection to the villages.
“Azerbaijan does not speak about the territories of Tavush and Artsvashen occupied by it, as well as several settlements of Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik occupied by Baku following its aggression in 2021-2022, considering them as a war trophy or ‘historical Azerbaijani lands’. This is still a visible part,” he added.
