Canada’s Minister of Tourism Mélanie Joly Meets With Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanian

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Tourism, Official Languages ​​and La Francophonie, is in Armenia, to participate in the 35th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, which will take place on October 8 and 9, 2018. Minister Joly will then join Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to take part in the XVII Francophonie Summit, on October 11 and 12.

On October 7, Minister Joly met with With Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanian and discussed bolateral relations.

At the conference, the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) will present the programming and budget for 2019 to 2022. The ministers representing state and government members will discuss the decisions that will be announced during the XVII Francophonie Summit.

During the conference, Minister Joly will highlight the importance of defending, strengthening and promoting the values of the Charter of La Francophonie and the use of French, including in the digital sphere, in addition to actively promoting the influence of Canada’s communities and the French language abroad.

During the summit, Canada will highlight priority themes such as socio-economic empowerment of women and girls, green economic growth and peace and security.
