Mild megabyte earthquake hits Northern Armenian province

A magnitude of 4,3 megabyte earthquake has hit the northern Armenian province of Lori

Aftershocks of the eartquake, which occured on wednesday in Armenia, were felt in the cities of Spitak and Vanadzor.

The ministry of emergency situations reported that the quake was detected at 17:07 in Lori province.

The epicenter of the earthquake was near Spitak.

Shocks of 5-6 magnitude were felt in the cities of Spitak and Vanadzor, and of lesser magnitude in Gyumri and Yerevan.

A light or mild earthquake is measured at between 4 and 4.9 on the Richter scale. Like minor quakes, they occur often worldwide, can be felt but generally cause no damage.
