Italy’s Lazio Region Recognizes Armenian Genocide

(Armradio) – The Regional Council of Lazio, Italy has recognized the Armenian Genocide, one month before the commemoration of the victims of the tragedy on 24 April, the Armenian community of Italy’s website reports.

At a sitting on Monday, March 18, the Council unanimously approved a resolution submitted by its member Sergio Pirozzi to acknowledge the fact of the Armenian Genocide.

The resolution expresses full solidarity with the Armenian people in their struggle for historical truth and human rights protection efforts.

Thus, Lazio becomes the 136th Council to recognize the Armenian genocide. The Armenian community of Rome has expressed gratitude to the Council.

Lazio is one of the 20 administrative regions of Italy. Situated in the central peninsular section of the country, it has almost 5.9 million inhabitants – making it the second most populated region of Italy
