First pan-Armenian citizens’ assembly kicks off in Yerevan

The first pan-Armenian citizens’ assembly, the Convention of the Future Armenian, started in Yerevan on Friday morning.

The participants of the two-day event will discuss the three goals set by the FUTURE ARMENIAN Initiative: historic responsibility, Armenia-Diaspora unity and growing population.

200 people from Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora, selected through transparent drawing process, are participating in the Convention, ensuring the proportion of gender, age, educational level and community area. They will get a chance to openly discuss possible policies and programs and to adopt recommendations for the realization of those goals.

In this process, the FUTURE ARMENIAN Initiative serves as a platform that unites pan-Armenian knowledge and potential in the process of finding solutions to the problems that the Armenian people face.

Artak Apitonyan, Executive Director of the Future Armenian Development Foundation, Noubar Afeyan and Ruben Vardanyan, co-founders of the initiative, delivered opening speeches at the event.

Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See, passed the message of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II to the participants.

The FUTURE ARMENIAN Initiative is represented by the FUTURE ARMENIAN Development Foundation. It is funded by Noubar Afeyan, Artur Alaverdyan, Richard Azarnia, Aram Bekchian, David Tavadian and Ruben Vardanyan.

The foundation aims to develop and implement projects with the vision of Armenia’s development for the next 20 years.
